Redefine Adventure

Redefine Adventure

My guiding philosophy has always been that adventure is what you say it is. This online community is called A Series of Adventures because I want to inspire you to shake it up a bit. I want you to see your life as a fun game...as a series of adventures.

My current adventure happens to be quitting my job at age 34 and backpacking solo all over the world. However, less than a year ago I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's, an autoimmune disease that attacks the thyroid. Managing my symptoms and meds is, in itself, a daily adventure. I can also vividly remember November of last year, when walking to the grocery store was an epic adventure. That one block walk was all I could manage to do in an entire day before falling back into bed completely fatigued. Fast forward...with 85 lbs lost so far...and now ballet barre class is my new adventure. Life is a constant evolution. I share all of this to say that adventure, for me, must involve progression, a movement of some kind.

Adventure is a mindset more than anything.

The definition of adventure is so relative. It's not fair to impose a base jumper's adrenaline junkie definition of adventure onto my situation any more than it's fair to impose my specific adventures onto you. What I do want you to take away is excitement about a sense of movement, a shift in mindset, a way of living your life that includes curiosity, play, and safe risks to help you grow.

How can you infuse an adventurous, open, flexible, courageous attitude into even one moment of your day?

Do it! I promise you, the effect of many small adventures is cumulative and transformative. I'd love to hear your plans! Talk to me in the comment section, I respond to every post, or bounce over to our community's Facebook page to share.

Love + cheering you on,
gail
