ritual for january 08: creativity
Doing something new builds new brain cells, so experiment with something you would normally consider "out of the box." (original article)
I have a jam packed day (thankfully full of creative tasks and time with friends) and so I'm keeping it easy breezy with today's ritual. I painted. Poorly and nonsensically. On a tiny canvas. For about 12 minutes in total. And it felt great. I went through a phase where I painted every day, for hours at a time on some weekends, with a measure of actual skill and intention. Now my little artiste studio (ie a folding table in my home office) sadly collects dusts. Not today!
As a creative person I naturally make any artistic-ish undertaking into a magnum opus. But guess what? I spent 12 minutes painting some hot pink mess, threw some 3D glitter on it, and bam. Synapses are firing. My relentless rhythm of 24/7 Desire Map business building is broken in all the right ways. Now I'm off to spend the rest of the day / night with friends. See? Easy breezy.
Lesson learned for 2015: There is always time. If you're a creative person and your soul needs artsy moxie to thrive, you have the time to honor that.
Love + puff paint,
